Rocksy’s, a 50s-themed diner that recently opened in Metairie, taps Mike Gowland as Executive Chef. Located on Edenborn Avenue, Rocksy’s offers “classic American dishes” like Heartbreak Hotel Hamburger Steak, Laverne’s Chicken Parmesan, Oh Boy Caesar Salad and Buttermilk Pancakes. All of the dishes are made in house and given a “down home” face lift. For example, Rocksy’s Rockin’ Fries are topped with pulled pork, cheddar cheese, sour cream and jalapenos.
Gowland is known locally for “Fireman Mike’s Kitchen,” a popular food booth that has appeared for several years at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. “I’ve always been passionate about the culinary traditions of Louisiana. It’s in my blood. For 30 years, I’ve been cooking these types of dishes for my family,” says Chef Mike. “I’m excited to share these flavors with all of New Orleans now.”
Rocksy’s is open seven days a week from 6:30 AM – 11 PM.
