Long gone are the days when typical bar food didn’t get much better than a bowl of stale pretzels or, if you were lucky, a bag of chips. Thanks to our recent adaptation of the European gastro pub, New Orleanians can now enjoy the finest cuisine while swilling local brews and watching the Saints on wide screen TVs.

Right now at Ale on Oak, the beer bar is taking full advantage of oyster season with this sumptuous spinach salad featuring plump, Louisiana oysters, cornmeal-battered and fried, tossed with a smoked tomato vinaigrette, sweet red onion, tangy bites of bleu cheese and crunchy spiced and toasted pecans. What beer wouldn’t pair well with that?
