Weekly Dish: Toups’ Burger from Toups’ Meatery

Kim Ranjbar

There are a lot of burgers in this world … burgers with varying patty thickness, seasonings, toppings, buns … and everyone has their favorites, but when it comes down to it, the devil’s in the details. Enter the burger at Toups’ Meatery …

Located on N. Carrollton Avenue, Toups’ has quickly become a Mid-City fixture. For almost four years now, Chef Isaac Toups’ has been offering a carnivore’s paradise with amazing dishes like confit chicken thighs, double-cut pork chops with dreamy dirty rice, and you can taste the skill and care taken in every dish, even in something as “simple” as his burger. The thick, juicy patty is made from a hand-ground combination of pork and beef cooked to your preference and topped with their own pickled squash, house-smoked bacon, white cheddar and herbed aioli. Just try it and see if you can’t taste the difference.
